Please prepare 1-1.5 minutes of a song in the style of the show (classic Broadway). Bring sheet music in the proper key; an accompanist will be provided. CD will be accepted, but not preferred. No Disney, please. 

Dress to move; bring jazz or character shoes for the dance portion of the audition. 

Rehearsals will be Sunday-Thursday 7-10 pm beginning 8/13. All actors will be required to participate in occasional Saturday workdays, as well as load-in on Oct. 1 and strike on Oct 8. Please bring a list of all conflicts from 8/13-9/30 with you to auditions. Conflicts are highly discouraged 9/24-9/28 and NO conflicts will be permitted Oct. 1-8. 

If you are unable to attend auditions, a video audition is acceptable. Send videos, completed audition form and all conflicts between 8/13 and 9/30 (no conflicts will be permitted 10/1-10/8) to hpct.info@gmail.com with "My Fair Lady Audition" in the subject line. Video auditions must be received NO LATER than 12:00 pm on August 5.

SYNOPSIS
The tale of a cockney flower girl transformed into an elegant lady features one of musical theatre’s greatest scores. Songs include “Wouldn’t It Be Loverly?,” “With a Little Bit of Luck,” “The Rain in Spain,” “I Could Have Danced All Night,” “On the Street Where You Live,” “Get Me to the Church on Time,” and “I’ve Grown Accustomed to Her Face.”

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN AND VOCAL REQUIREMENTS
(NOTE: Age ranges are suggested. Remember that much can be done to age up and down with makeup, costumes, hair)

PROFESSOR HENRY HIGGINS: Baritone (B2-E4) –late-30s to mid-50s); Middle-aged confirmed bachelor, professor of phonetics and expert elocutionist. Impatient with high society and inconsiderate of the normal social niceties. Strong acting and singing skills required. Highly believable British “Received Pronunciation” (RP) a must.

ELIZA DOOLITTLE: Soprano (A3-G5)—20s; Cockney flower girl who hopes to lift herself out of the gutter , elevate her standing, and become a lady. She is nonetheless smart and knows what she can be, but needs help to realize her dreams. Strong singing and acting skills required. Must be able to effect vocal change from Cockney to Received Pronunciation during course of the show.

COLONEL PICKERING: Baritone (C3-D4)— 40-60; Retired British Army officer and linguist, specializing in Indian dialects. Always considerate and a gentleman, he is a perfect British eccentric with a dogged earnestness. His thoughtful treatment of Eliz helps raise her self-respect.

ALFRED P. DOOLITTLE: Baritone (G3-E4)—60s; Eliza’s wastrel father; a rubbish collector; what the Brits would call a “bounder”, with a unique brand of humor; unembarrassed and unashamed Hedonist. Strong acting and singing skills required, as well as a believable Cockney accent

MRS. PEARCE: Mezzo-Soprano (E4-G4)—Higgins’ housekeeper; a remarkably patient woman

FREDDY EYNSFORD-HILL: Tenor (C3-F4)- 20s; upper class man, smitten with Eliza

MRS. HIGGINS: 60s—Henry’s mother; a refined lady of the upper class; kind and understanding of Eliza’s plight

SUPPORTING AND ENSEMBLE ROLES—with small speaking /singing roles

PROFESSOR ZOLTAN KARPATHY: 50s; Hungarian linguist; meets Eliza at the ball and thinks she royalty

MRS. EYNSFORD-HILL: 60s; Freddy’s mother

HARRY: 40s; Bass-Baritone; Doolittle’s drinking companion

JAMIE: 40S: Tenor; Doolittle’s drinking companion

LORD BOXINGTON: 50s; race patron
