A Comedy by Peter Gordon

Directed by Hope Cameron-Smith
Stage Managed by Ashley Pennington
Assistant Stage Managed by Sofia Schnaith-Ivan

This hilarious spoof of the best of Agatha Christie traditions is set in a country manor house in the 1930s, with an assembled cast of characters guaranteed to delight. Bunting, the butler; an English Colonel, with the prerequisite stiff upper lip; a shady French art dealer and his moll; the bumbling local inspector and a well-meaning local sleuth who seems to attract murder wherever she goes. They’re all here – and all caught up in the side-splitting antics that follow the mysterious death of the house’s owner. It soon becomes clear that the murderer isn’t finished yet, but will the murderer be unmasked before everyone else has met their doom, or will audiences die laughing first?

Contains mild adult themes

Runtime 2 hours and 15 minutes with a 15-minute intermission

Characters (AGES REFER TO THE APPROXIMATE AGE OF THE CHARACTER, NOT THE ACTOR)

The characters in Murdered to Death are deliberately based on ‘whodunnit’ stereotypes. All of these characters are caricatures of typical English gentry.

Mildred (Female presenting, late fifties) - Moderately wealthy owner of Bagshot House.

Dorothy (Female presenting, late twenties) - Mildred’s niece, companion and housekeeper. She is rather plain.

Bunting (Male presenting, sixties) - The butler. Pedantic and rather creepy.

Colonel Charles Craddock (Male presenting, early sixties) - Dresses in tweeds. Confident but blustering.

Margaret Craddock (Female presenting) - The long-suffering but acerbic wife of Charles.

Elizabeth Hartley-Trumpington (Female presenting, mid-twenties) - Attractive and stunningly dressed. Very high society.

Pierre Marceau (Male presenting, early thirties) - A French art dealer. Speaks in an exaggerated French accent.

Joan Maple (Female presenting, sixties) - A spinster and amateur sleuth.

Constable Thomkins (Male presenting) - Young, bright uniformed village policeman.

Inspector Pratt (Male presenting) - Inept, posing, and clumsy. Thinks he’s so clever.
